CONGRATULATIONS to KUYA F
Words of wisdom for Kuya F
"The hero in you is waiting to be unleashed. Serve, serve well, serve others above yourself and be happy to serve. As I always tell to my co-volunteers ... you are the change that you dream, as I am the change that I dream, and collectively we are the change that this world needs to be."

It's Sesame Street's 40th Anniversary

Sunny Day
Sweepin’ the clouds away
On my way to where the air is sweet
Can you tell me how to get,
How to get to Sesame Street
Come and play
Everything’s A-OK
Friendly neighbors there
That’s where we meet
Can you tell me how to get
How to get to Sesame Street
It’s a magic carpet ride
Every door will open wide
To Happy people like you–
Happy people like
What a beautiful
Sunny Day
Sweepin’ the clouds away
On my way to where the air is sweet
Can you tell me how to get,
How to get to Sesame street…
How to get to Sesame Street
How to get to…

To All Filipinos Everywhere - A MUST READ
Here's a wonderful letter to all the Filipinos written by a brave woman. She wants to do her bit in these trying times of our nation..
Please pass to as many persons if you think her article is worth reproducing via email.
God bless

To all Filipinos Everywhere:
I used to think that corruption and criminality in the Philippines were caused by poverty. But recent events tell me this isn't true. It is one thing to see people turn into drug addicts, prostitutes, thieves and murderers because of hunger and poverty, but what excuse do these rich, educated people have that could possibly explain their bizarre behavior? And to think I was always so relieved when petty snatchers got caught and locked away in jail because I never fully realized that the big time thieves were out there, making the laws and running our country. Can it get any worse than this?
Every night, I come home and am compelled to turn on my tv to watch the latest turn of events. I am mesmerized by these characters. They are not men. They are caricatures of men - too unreal to be believable and too bad to be real. To see these "honorable" crooks lambast each other, call each one names, look each other in the eye and accuse the other of committing the very same crimes that they themselves are guilty of, is so comical and appalling that I don't know whether to laugh or cry. It is entertainment at its worst!
I have never seen so many criminals roaming around unfettered and looking smug until now. These criminals wear suits and barongs, strut around with the confidence of the rich and famous, inspire fear and awe from the very citizens who voted them to power, bear titles like "Honorable", "Senator", "Justice", "General" and worse, "President". Ironically, these lawless individuals practice law, make our laws, enforce the law. And we wonder why our policemen act the way they do! These are their leaders, and the leaders of this nation – Robin Hoodlum and his band of moneymen. Their motto? "Rob the poor, moderate the greed of the rich."
It makes me wonder where on earth these people came from, and what kind of upbringing they had to make them act the way they do for all the world to see. It makes me wonder what kind of schools they went to, what kind of teachers they had, what kind of environment would produce such creatures who can lie, cheat and steal from an already indebted country and from the impoverished people they had vowed to serve. It makes me wonder what their children and grandchildren think of them, and if they are breeding a whole new generation of improved Filipino crooks and liars with maybe a tad more style but equally negligible conscience. Heaven forbid!
I am an ordinary citizen and taxpayer. I am blessed to have a job that pays for my needs and those of my family's, even though 30% of my earnings go to the nation's coffers. Just like others in my lot, I have complained time and again because our government could not provide enough of the basic services that I expect and deserve. Rutty roads, poor educational system, poor social services, poor health services, poor everything. But I have always thought that was what all third world countries were all about, and my complaints never amounted to anything more.
And then this. Scandalous government deals. Plundering presidents pointing fingers. Senators associated with crooks. Congressmen who accept bribes. Big time lawyers on the side of injustice. De Venecia ratting on his boss only after his interminable term has ended, Enrile inquiring about someone's morality! The already filthy rich Abalos and Arroyo wanting more money than they or their great grandchildren could ever spend in a lifetime. Joker making a joke of his own "pag bad ka, lagot ka!" slogan. Defensor rendered defenseless. Gen. Razon involved in kidnapping. Security men providing anything but a sense of security. And it's all about money, money, money that the average Juan de la Cruz could not even imagine in his dreams. Is it any wonder why our few remaining decent and hardworking citizens are leaving to go work in other countries?
And worst of all, we are once again saddled with a power-hungry president whose addiction has her clinging on to it like barnacle on a rusty ship. "Love (of power) is blind" takes a whole new meaning when PGMA time and again turns a blind eye on her husband's financial deals. And still blinded with all that is happening, she opts to traipse around the world with her cohorts in tow while her country is in shambles.
They say the few stupid ones like me who remain in the Philippines are no longer capable of showing disgust. I don't agree. Many like me feel anger at the brazenness of men we call our leaders, embarrassment to share the same nationality with them, frustration for our nation and helplessness at my own ineffectuality. It is not that I won't make a stand. It is just that I am afraid my actions would only be futile. After all, these monsters are capable of anything. They can hurt me and my family. They already have, though I may not yet feel it.
But I am writing this because I need to do something concrete. I need to let others know that ordinary citizens like me do not remain lukewarm to issues that would later affect me and my children. I want to make it known that there are also Filipinos who dream of something better for the Philippines. I want them to know that my country is not filled with scalawags and crooks in every corner, and that there are citizens left who believe in decency, fairness, a right to speak, a right to voice out ideas, a right to tell the people we have trusted to lead us that they have abused their power and that it is time for them to step down. I refuse to let this country go to hell because it is the only country I call mine and it is my responsibility to make sure I have done what I could for it.
Those of us who do not have the wealth, power or position it needs to battle the evil crime lords in the government can summon the power of good. We can pray. We can do this with our families every night. We can offer petitions every time we celebrate mass. We can ask others to pray, too, including relatives and friends here and overseas. And we can offer sacrifices along with our petitions, just so we get the message to Him of our desperation in ridding our nation of these vermin. After all, they cannot be more powerful than God!
I implore mothers out there to raise your children the best way you can. Do not smother, pamper, or lavish them with too much of the material comforts of life even if you can well afford them. Teach them that there are more important things in this world. I beg all fathers to spend time with their children, to teach them the virtues of hard work, honesty, fair play, sharing, dignity and compassion – right from the sandbox till they are old enough to go on their own. Not just in your homes, but at work, in school, everywhere you go. Be good role models. Be shining examples for your children so they will learn to be responsible adults who will carry and pass on your family name with pride and honor.
I call on educators and teachers – we always underestimate the power of your influence on the minds of our youth. Encourage them to be aware of what is happening in their surroundings. Instill in them a love of their country, inculcate in them the value of perseverance in order to gain real, worthwhile knowledge, help us mold our children into honorable men and women. Encourage our graduates, our best and brightest, to do what they can to lift this country from the mire our traditional politicians have sunk us into. The youth is our future – and it would be largely because of you, our educators, that we will be able to repopulate the seats of power with good leaders, presidents, senators, congressmen, justices, lawmakers, law enforcers and lawful citizens.
I ask all students, young people and young professionals everywhere to look around and get involved in what is happening. Do not let your youth be an excuse for failure to concern yourselves with the harsh realities you see. But neither let this make you cynical, because we need your idealism and fresh perspective just as you need the wisdom of your elders. YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU! Let your voices be heard. Do what you can for this land that gave you your ancestors and your heritage. Use technology and all available resources at hand to spread good. Text meaningful messages to awaken social conscience. Try your best to fight moral decay because I promise you will not regret it when you become parents yourselves. You will look back at your past misdeeds and pray that your children will do better than you did.
Remember that there are a few handful who are capable of running this country. You can join their ranks and make their numbers greater. We are tired of the old trapos. We need brave idealistic leaders who will think of the greater good before anything else. Do your utmost to excel in your chosen field. Be good lawyers, civil servants, accountants, computer techs, engineers, doctors, military men so that when you are called to serve in government, you will have credibility and a record that can speak for itself.
For love of this country, for the future of our children, for the many who have sacrificed and died to uphold our rights and ideals, I urge you to do what you can. As ordinary citizens, we can do much more for the Philippines than sit around and let crooks lead us to perdition. We owe ourselves this. And we owe our country even more.

What Could 4 Degree Warming Mean For The World? REALLY SCARY
The conference at Oxford University is the first to consider the global consequences of climate change beyond 2 degrees Celsius, and is jointly sponsored by University’s Environmental Change Institute, the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and the Met Office Hadley Centre.
Speaking at the international conference called ‘4 degrees and beyond’ at Oxford University, Dr Richard Betts, Head of Climate Impacts at the Met Office Hadley Centre, described the possibility of a 4 degree warming happening ‘before the end of the century’. He added that a scenario of very intensive fossil fuel burning could bring this forward by 20 years.
In this presentation Dr Betts warned that 4 degrees of warming could have extreme regional implications along with major changes in rainfall. He said: "If greenhouse emissions are not cut soon, then we could see major climate changes within our own lifetimes."

WHAT THIS MEANS TO US:
1. Warmer Seas, Wetter Air Make Harder Rains Storms will dump heavier rain and snow around the world as Earth's climate warms over the coming century.
2. Arctic to be ice-free in summer in 20 years. The warming of the Arctic Ocean surface waters, resulting from more sea ice loss, will accelerate melting of the Greenland Ice Sheet, speeding up global sea level rise.
3. "Hundreds of millions of people will be vulnerable to flooding by the end of the century due to rising sea levels, especially in densely populated and low-lying settlements. The greatest populations at risk are in Asia and the Pacific."
4. Global warming equals stronger hurricanes. Meteorologists find that increased ocean temperatures cause increasingly intense hurricanes.

STOP GIVING THEM RELIEF GOODS.
Our government is just focusing on the symptoms, symptomatic relief..but not curing the reason of these sufferings. Flood, what caused it? What steps should be done to prevent this from happening again?
REUSE, REDUCE and RECYCLE. Its all the garbage we accumulate. When we buy food, we throw away plastic bag, plastic wrapper, plastic cup, plastic spoon.puro plastic. Di ba pwedeng pag bumili tayo ng food kung kaya ko namang hawakan, wag mo na pa plastic o kaya magdala ka lagi ng reusable na bag, like the green bags na uso ngayon. Stop yourself from accumulating things you dont really need. Whenever I buy one or two items, I just ask for the receipt.
REBUILD. Feeding programs just cure the hunger for one meal. Teach the people skills so they can be productive. Give them job opportunities. Encourage enterpreneurship. “Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime."
STOP GIVING THEM RELIEF GOOD, TEACH THEM HOW TO FISH.

PGMA Inaugural Speech as the 14th President of the Republic of the Philippines Luneta Grandstand, Manila June 30, 2004
NAGAWA NYA
Maraming salamat. Thank you Secretary Romulo, Vice-President elect and Mrs. Noli de Castro, former President Fidel Ramos, Senate President and Mrs. Drilon and the members of the Senate, Speaker and Mrs. De Venecia and the members of the House of Representatives, Chief Justice and Mrs. Davide, and the Associate Justices and other members of the Judiciary, Excellencies to Special Envoys and members of the Diplomatic Corps, members of the Cabinet and their ladies, other appointive officials, mayors of Metropolitan Manila, governors and other local officials, the chief of staff of the Armed Forces and its men and women, as well as those of the police, members of the various sectors of society, fellow workers in government, mga minamahal kong kababayan , Mabuhay ang Sambayanang Filipino.
This ceremony never fails to impress. It invests the highest official of the land with the chief care of the nation, and the principal responsibility of leaving it better than when she took it in hand.
Let me speak plainly. When I step down six years from now this will be my 10-point legacy. I shall have created more than 6 million jobs, perhaps, even 10 million jobs. I shall have supported 3 million entrepreneurs by giving them loans and helping them become good managers. That way, we shall be establishing a deep foundation for a broad middle class.
I shall have developed 1 million hectares, if possible 2 million of agribusiness land by making them productive and transporting their products to the markets efficiently. Everyone of school age will be in school in an uncrowded classroom, in surroundings conducive to learning.
I shall have balanced the budget by collecting the right revenues and spending on the right things. The network of transport and digital infrastructure on which my government embarked in the last 3 years will have linked the entire country.
Power and water will be regularly provided to all barangays.
Metro Manila will be decongested with economic activity growing and spreading to new centers of government business and community in Luzon, in the Visayas and in Mindanao. The Subic-Clark corridor will be the most competitive international service and logistic center in the Southeast Asian Region.
Elections. Elections will no longer raise a single doubt about their integrity (PEDE MAGCOMMENT?!). The electoral process will be completely computerized. Tama na ang manu-manong pagsusuma ng boto. And long before that, peace will have come to Mindanao. All insurgence shall have turned their swords into plowshares. They will have become so absorbed into one society that the struggles of the past will be just a stuff of legend.
The divisive issues generated by EDSA I, II and III will also be just memories shared by friends from every side in those upheavals. Only the lessons of unity, courage and a just closure left alive in their hearts. We fight for what we believed in. The last election clearly saw this fighting Filipino spirit at its best. Roco, Lacson, Villanueva and Poe all fought with conviction. If only we could now fight together with the same energy and conviction to preserve our freedoms and advance our nation's progress.
We know now what we can do when we set our minds to it. We know now how well we can unite the people around our respective causes. Can we not work together to rally the nation behind the paramount objective of its salvation? Our unity as a people will be defined by a strong vision for the nation built on common values of hard work, shared sacrifice and love of country. The unity we seek is not one of conformity but unwavering respect for the rules and institutions of democracy, a modern country founded on social justice enjoying economic prosperity. To achieve a united country, we need to face the deep divisions of our nation squarely, not only the truth but also the solution. That solution must engage all segments of society in a new government of political reform and economic change.
Our nation must embrace a vision of economic opportunity, social cohesion and always and ever democratic faith. I offer my hand and I hope it will be taken with the same faith. Unity is not measured by how many political parties are able to achieve the accommodation of narrow self-interest, rather it is achieved by the harmony of the sincere convictions based on our agreement on the basic requirements for achieving the national good.
Our ability to unify will be judged by our ability to come together under a common vision that will erase the divisions that hold us back as a nation. The government must make tough choices, but this I promised they will be tougher on those who have it easy than on those who have it tough already. In this way alone lies unity and not exploitation and division.
I come to you today with a mandate to govern by the clear call of the sovereign people. I pledge to bring you a pro-poor agenda that will lift up our poorest brothers and sisters, invest them with dignity imbue them with hope. I pledge to you a government that will live within its means and put every spare peso to real work. I pledge to reduce spending where government does not work and increase spending where a government can make a difference for better. And while I am doing that, I will crack-down on wasteful and abusive officials and influenced peddlers. I pledge to collect taxes mandated by law even as I stop extortion masquerading as tax collection. Pay your taxes; don't pretend to be innocent when you are caught. I will crack-down on tax cheats. And I pledge to do everything necessary to expand the economy, engage it in the world of commerce and advance the interests of our country and our people the world over.
I challenge our business community to rise to the occasion and embrace selfless nationalism. Invest in our people and our country instead of giving excuses for keeping your money abroad where it cannot put our people to work.
I challenge our young men and women; there is a role to play in the re-creation of our nation, some in honest public service, most in productive private endeavor. Whatever it is you decide to do let the greater part of it be for our country. It is personal patriotism not impersonal free markets that makes nation strong and great.
I look up to Congress to seize this moment in history. Its like it will not come again. All eyes are on us. You have it within your power to transform the nation with laws. Laws that modernize our banking, laws that reform our bureaucracy, laws that strengthen the independence and honesty of our judges, laws that invest in our country and secure to our people the promise blessings of democracy which are a life worth living, liberty worth having, happiness within everyone's grasp.
Now, is our time to march forward as one. I seek your wisdom and I trust in your commitment to the common good, to the swift actions you will take. And finally, I challenge myself, and our government to live up to the highest standards of honesty and competence in the public service.
I shall make good and I shall do good for the good of all and not just for the cameras.
United, how can we lose? Together, we will prevail! Magsama-sama tayong magsikap. Magkasama tayong magtatagumpay. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat.

For the love of Ben 10
Noynoy Aquino - a side note
But let's not talk about that. I did a little bit of reading on Noynoy and I found this. I am not sure if this will convince you to vote for him or not but this is something nice to know. I got this from wikipedia.org
On August 28, 1987, eighteen months into the presidency of Cory Aquino, rebel soldiers led by Gregorio Honasan staged an unsuccessful coup attempt, attempting to siege MalacaƱang Palace. Aquino was two blocks from the palace when he came under fire. Three of his four security escorts were killed, and the last was wounded protecting him. Aquino himself was hit by five bullets, one of which is still embedded in his neck.
During the campaign, Aquino reached out to his former enemy, Senator Gregorio Honasan, supporting his application for bail. "I endorse Honasan's request for bail para parehas ang laban. I was hit by bullets from Honasan's men in the neck and hips but that's past now. The principle of my father was, ' Respect the rights even of your enemies.' Ito ang nagpatingkad ng demokrasya. Genuine reconciliation is democracy in action," Aquino told Job Tabada of Cebu Daily News on 5th March 2007.
Kaya pala parang there is something wrong with his head and hip movements...kanina sa TV sabi ko parang may arthritis siya....yon naman pala tinamaan sya ng bullet don..shox..sabi ko na e wag agad mag conclude buti nag research ako....

Dianne's 1st birthday party
Birthday Prep
My son wanted a Shakey's Birthday party. I asked my friend Gigi how much they spent on Mikee's birthday, and its around 15 to 18k. For me that's too much, being frugal and all hehehe.
My son's favorite cartoon character as of the moment is Ben10. So I first went to McDonald's cause I saw that they had a Ben10 theme. Their package was okay, reasonable prices. Their generic party theme costs P2000, but their Ben 10 theme costs P3000. Plus you have the buy the cake plus an additional charge for a Ben 10 cake.
Then off to Jollibee...hehehehe...obviously. It was almost the same as McDonald's. Their Justice League theme costs 1929 that's for the hat, invitations, prizes, mascot, and standard loot bags. Premium loot bags costs more. Then you have to pay for the cake too.
Right across Jollibee and McDonald's is Pizza Hut and there was a tarpaulin announcing "There's a New Kind of Party in Town." I was delighted that I went there. Their package was almost the same as the two but they had pizza of course. Plus the party fee of 2500 includes a cake. It was 2000 cheaper than the two. Wow! that is a great deal! So it was Pizza Hut for me. Click here to see details of their party package.
But then I decided to tell Tantan before reserving. I presented all three packages to him ended my presentation with "Alam mo mas mura sa Pizza Hut" (its much cheaper in Pizza Hut). And he replied "Ikaw bahala nanay kung ano kasya sa pera mo (Its up to you mom, if your budget fits)
Because of that answer I decided to give him a Jollibee Birthday Party. I reserved today and to my delight, they have a promo. If you reserve now until Oct 31, 2009, you get one mascot free!!! I am so happy. So there's going to be two mascots on his party. Yipee!!!
I am so excited!!!

My Typical Day
4:30 am My phone plays "Nobody" by the Wondergirls my alarm tone. Nothing like a good upbeat song to wake you up. I wake up Tantan and he goes straight to the bathroom. Abet prepares breakfast and I sleep again :D Did I mention I am a power napper?!

5:00 to 5:30am Tantan eats his breakfast while I cheer for him. Cheering as in "hey take another bite..hurry hurry hurry..drink your milk, " Tantan takes a long time to eat that's why we allot at least 30 minutes for his breakfast.
5:40am My phone plays "Wish You My Love" by Shinee as alarm tone. Meaning Tantan is off to school and its time for me to log in for my homebased job.
